In 2011 new work health and safety laws commenced in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania.  All businesses are now required to adopt changes in their Workplace Health and Safety processes and procedures to comply with the new laws.

At a top level the key changes will include:

  • WH&S Consulting
  • Enhanced roles for workplace health and safety representatives
  • Changes in the roles of trade unions
  • Changes in law court jurisdiction
  • Revision of penalty and offence structures
  • Revision of due diligence obligations
